Lighting Skills of Theater and Filming

Film and theater lighting is an important means of modeling expression, which plays a role in conveying information, expressing the emotions of the characters, setting the atmosphere of the scene, and characterizing the characters in the film. In order to achieve the desired effect, professional film and television lighting design and layout are usually required before the filming, such as the number, position, color, brightness, attenuation, shadow, and rendering settings of the lights. Now we introduce the lighting techniques of film and television.

Basic three-point lighting skills for film and television shooting lights:

1.  Main light

Light source:It is usually the main light source in the scene, and we will use it as a color temperature and intensity reference to set other lights. If the color temperature of the main light is 5000K, the color temperature of the other lights is about the same as the main light, and the intensity is lower than that of the main light. Soft light source is usually used to make the subject look better.

   2. Auxiliary light

The role of the auxiliary light is to balance the main light and illuminate the shadow left by the main light.

   3. Contour light

The function of the contour light is to separate the subject from the background, especially when the subject has dark hair, skin, and clothing, and the background is also very dark, it is easy to mix into one.
